Davide Chiarugi starts this month as director of SIB’s Personalized Health Informatics group. The group plays a key role in making health-relevant data interoperable and shareable for research in Switzerland, through the Data Coordination Centre and secure BioMedIT infrastructure of the Swiss Personalized Health Network (SPHN). Davide brings extensive leadership, data management and bioinformatics experience across a variety of applications – including human pathogens and other health challenges – and a passion for enabling data-driven biomedical research.

Further developing the Swiss personalized health landscape

SIB’s Personalized Health Informatics (PHI) group supports Switzerland’s pioneering position on collaborative research with sensitive patient data, in particular through the Swiss Personalized Health Network initiative (SPHN). The group manages the SPHN Data Coordination Center (DCC) and coordinates the BioMedIT network – a national Trusted Research Environment that enables secure health-data exchange and processing for research.
