Introduction to Network Analysis
19 October 2018
For-profit: 900 CHF
No future instance of this course is planned yet
The course is now full but there are places remaining for the workshop Data Visualisation with Cytoscape that takes place November 1st, taught by Scooter Morris.
This course is co-organised by the CUSO/StarOmics doctoral program. Priority is given to its members, but is open to everyone.
Overview
The course will introduce the basic concepts of biological network analysis and provide practical instruction on commonly used bioinformatics tools to analyse and visualize biological networks. The course will comprise theoretical and practical sessions where course participants will gain practical knowledge on how to perform different biological network analyses and how to visualize and interpret the results of such analyses. This 3-day course will be followed by a one-day workshop about advanced usage of Cytoscape by Dr. Scooter Morris (separate registration, the link will be provided soon).
Audience
This course is addressed to biologists and bioinformaticians with some experience in analysing biological data. Intermediate level.
Learning objectives
At the end of the course, the participants are expected to:
- analyse and visualise biological data in networks with Cytoscape;
- manipulate networks within the R environment;
- perform and interpret results of weighted correlation network analysis in R.
Brief course program
Day 1: Data analysis & visualization in Cytoscape
Day 2 AM: Data analysis & visualization in Cytoscape
Day 2 PM: Weighted Gene Correlation Network Analysis (WGCNA)
Day 3: Weighted Gene Correlation Network Analysis (WGCNA)
